Is Nespresso Vertuo Plus being discontinued?
Vertuo plus has been discontinued. Just was in a Nespresso store and they told me it’s been discontinued. Told me it was a global decision. Unlike the original line of Nespresso pods, the VertuoLine design is proprietary and protected by a legal patent. This means that third-party pod manufacturers (like us) are unable to design a similar style of pod.This particular style and shape of capsule has also been patented by Nespresso themselves, so producing Vertuo-compatible pods is not possible.Vertuo pods are only available via Nespresso or Amazon (at a hefty price) in the UK.Only Nespresso is allowed to make Vertuo pods. The Starbucks ones are made by Nespresso as well.
