The lutheran world federation is a global communion of churches working together for a just, peaceful and reconciled world. Founded by lutheran churches in 1947 in lund, sweden, it has 154 members in 99 countries, representing over 78 million lutherans.The Lutheran World Federation was founded in 1947 on the initiative of the Lutheran churches in the United States. Unlike its predecessor, the Lutheran World Convention, founded in Eisenach in 1923, it succeeded in both overcoming the past and representing the interests common to all Lutheran churches.
