What is the difference between Hario 01 and 02?
Size and capacity hario drippers come in sizes 01, 02, and 03. Size 01 is for 1-2 cups, size 02 is for 1-4 cups, and size 03 is for 1-6 cups. When it comes to the size or brewing capacity, the most obvious thing to think about is how many cups of coffee you want to make in each pour-over. There are three hario v60 sizes—01, 02 and 03—with a minimal price difference between each. Each one makes a slightly different amount of coffee: hario v60 01: 1-2 cups. Hario v60 02: 1-4 cups.Size and Capacity Hario drippers come in Sizes 01, 02, and 03. It’s not completely clear how they define a cup, but I’ve found that it’s 5oz. So, I recommend you use the 01 for a maximum of 10oz, the 02 for 20oz and the 03 for 30oz.Size 01 – Suitable for 15g or less of coffee grounds, brews 1-2 cups. Size 02 – Suitable for 20-30g of coffee grounds, brews up to 4 cups.
Is Hario Switch the same as V60?
The Hario Switch features the notable classic V60 body with a heat-proof glass cone, but also has a rubber base that houses a stainless steel ball that restrains the water while the coffee steeps. The V60 Switch is a hybrid brewer that makes coffee with some characteristics of an immersion brew but cleaner, healthier, and oil-free. The coffee isn’t quite as robust and powerful as French press coffee, but it is more full-bodied than other paper-filtered coffee.
Is Hario V60 good for beginners?
The best pour over coffee maker for beginners is either the Hario V60 or the Kalita Wave. Both make fantastic coffee, but the Kalita Wave is easier while the Hario V60 is faster. Your main consideration should be whether you want to invest in a scale and a gooseneck kettle. Which coffee maker is best for beginners? If you want simplicity and consistency, go for the Hoop or Clever Dripper. If you’re happy to experiment and tweak your technique, the V60 is a great challenge.
Is the Hario Switch good for beginners?
The great thing about the Hario Switch is that it offers the best of both worlds. You can use the thing as an immersion brewer or as a classic percolation device. The former option is ideal for beginners, seeing as you don’t have to worry about grind size, flow rate and pouring technique. But if you’ve got a Hario V60 02, as I outline above, your brew instructions are the same. Use a 16 grind size on the Baratza Encore (or comparable on your grinder), and a 16:1 brew ratio. The grind size is very important for making coffee with the Hario V60. Channeling often happens because of inconsistent grinds, so you need a good grinder. Too coarse grind can make the water flow too fast, resulting in a weak and sour cup. Too fine and it becomes a bitter, over-extracted mess that drips slowly.
