What is the difference between AeroPress and AeroPress XL?
So what makes the AeroPress XL different? It has twice the capacity of the AeroPress Original. What is AeroPress Original XL? AeroPress extra large coffee press features our iconic 3 in 1 brew technology with double the capacity of our standard size coffee maker. Craft one generous cup or brew enough for two – all in about 2 minutes. Here’s the issue: the Aeropress can only hold ~250ml of water at a time (roughly 8oz). In order to brew two cups of coffee, you have to be able to brew ~430ml in one session.
What is the difference between AeroPress XL and original size?
More than twice the size of the conventional AeroPress, this extra-large model can brew 500ml of liquid at a time. As a starting point, we recommend one heaping scoop of medium-fine grind coffee, or 14-15 grams of coffee per cup. All AeroPress scoops have the same capacity. A level scoop holds 11. A heaping (rounded) scoop of coffee holds 14 grams or 3 tablespoons. The standard ratio for most methods is around 1:16 (1 gram of coffee for every 16 grams of water), but when it comes to AeroPress, folks like it stronger – the original AeroPress recipe recommends 1:6!
What is the difference between AeroPress and AeroPress Plus?
The aeropress go has a slightly smaller chamber, up to about 8 oz (236 ml). The aeropress go plus has a bigger brewing chamber. It can brew up to about 10 oz (295 ml) of coffee. In practical terms, that 20–25% increase in capacity means you can press a larger cup in one go with the go plus. As a coffee enthusiast (aka coffee snob) the aeropress go has quickly become one of my favorite ways to brew a quick and easy cup of coffee. The aeropress coffee maker’s relative ease of use combined with its ability to make a strong espresso-like cup of coffee is what initially drew me into the aeropress ecosystem.
What are common AeroPress mistakes?
A common complaint among new brewers is that their AeroPress coffee tastes too sour or too bitter. And, no one wants to drink a funky cup of coffee first thing in the morning. A quick and simple way to fix a sour or bitter tasting coffee is to adjust the grind size. A general rule of thumb is: Sour Coffee = Grind finer. If your coffee tastes bitter you’re probably extracting too much flavour (‘over extracting’). Try grinding your coffee a bit coarser or, if that isn’t an element you can control, start plunging your Aeropress earlier (leaving the grounds in immersion for a shorter time).Pre-wet your filter with hot water to wash out the filter’s paper taste and to warm the brew equipment. Discard water after use. Place your AeroPress (without the plunger) on a serving vessel. It is very important to stop pressing when (or right before) the water is out of the AeroPress. If you hear a hissing noise, or if you can visually tell that it is at the end (as shown), you should stop pressing. Continuing past this point would squeeze bitterness out of the coffee grounds. Some people reuse AeroPress filters dozens of times. When finished with a pressing, peel off the filter from the puck of coffee, rinse it, and place it in the filter cap to dry in position for use with the next pressing.
Which is the best AeroPress model?
AeroPress Original: Verdict For me, the AeroPress Original remains the No. Drawback. There aren’t many downsides to the Aeropress but if I have to find some, it would be amount of brewing techniques and recipes available -it can be overwhelming finding a recipe that works for you. Another possible downside is its limited brewing capacity.Aeropress can make top-quality coffee, if you use good beans and a semi-decent burr grinder (even sub-$100 grinder will make great coffee). Nespresso will make drinkable but not good espresso. Of all the pod-based machines, nespresso is by far the best for coffee, but it still isn’t amazing.
What is the criticism of AeroPress?
The AeroPress is fundamentally a single-serve brewer. You can’t make a big pot of coffee for guests. You can make a concentrate and add hot water (like an Americano), but it’s not the same as brewing a large batch. If you regularly brew for two or more people, this might not be your primary solution. For a coffee prepared with an Aeropress we recommend that you choose one of our organic coffees with a medium roast. Our Signature and Grande Reserve specialty coffees are ideal for this method.
