What is so special about AeroPress?
The AeroPress is a manual coffee press introduced in 2005. Producing exceptionally smooth, flavourful coffee in a fraction of the time required by a French Press, the AeroPress minimises bitterness while maximising the extraction of rich coffee oils. It is very important to stop pressing when (or right before) the water is out of the AeroPress. If you hear a hissing noise, or if you can visually tell that it is at the end (as shown), you should stop pressing. Continuing past this point would squeeze bitterness out of the coffee grounds. This recipe quite literally inverts the AeroPress, so no water drips through the filter until you’re ready. You’ll get a slightly different flavour because this leaves more water during the immersion stage of the brew, before pressure forces the water through the coffee grounds and filter. Can you grind too fine for AeroPress? Yes you can. I have tried to brew an Aeropress with coffee that is too fine and it is a struggle. Basically you will end up with some coffee in your cup before the grounds clog the filter and you will find it really hard to plunge.
What’s the difference between AeroPress and AeroPress Go?
Although both of these coffee machines are designed to do the same thing, there are a few things that set them apart. For example, the Aeropress Go is optimised for home use whereas the AeroPress Go is designed for use on the go. The AeroPress Go includes a drinking mug with a lid, which doubles up as a carrying case. Both methods are prized for convenience, but overall you’ll find the AeroPress is more convenient as it is more portable than most cafetieres on the market. Not only this, but it is indeed easier to clean up after brewing which can be a huge benefit in a home environment.
