What is Sca Houston?
The Specialty Coffee Association (SCA) Show in Houston, Texas, from April 25–27 was a caffeinated celebration of creativity, community, and cutting-edge innovation. The Specialty Coffee Association (SCA) is the largest global coffee trade association dedicated to making coffee better by fostering a global coffee community and supporting activities to make specialty coffee a thriving, equitable, and sustainable endeavor for the entire value chain.
What does the sca do?
Members of the SCA study and take part in a variety of activities, including combat and chivalry, archery, heraldry, equestrian activities, costuming, cooking, metalworking, woodworking, leather crafting, music, dance, calligraphy, fiber arts, and others as practiced during the member’s time period. The Society for Creative Anachronism (SCA) is an inclusive community pursuing research and re-creation of pre-seventeenth century skills, arts, combat and culture. What is a good sca score?
Defining coffee quality To be graded as specialty, coffee must score at least 80 points and contain no more than five primary defects per 300g sample. Using the SCA’s cupping form, there are various gradations of specialty coffee: Scores of 80 to 84. Very Good” Coffees scoring 85 to 89. Excellent” The widely accepted definition of specialty coffee is coffee scoring 80 points or above on the 100-point scale used on the Specialty Coffee Association Cupping form. Coffee scoring from 90 to 100 is graded Outstanding, coffee that scores 85–89. Excellent, while coffee scoring 80–84. Very Good.
