What is ozone coffee?
Founded 26 years ago in New Zealand and established in London 12 years ago, Ozone Coffee is an international specialty coffee company with a mission to revolutionise the way coffee is valued, grown, produced, and enjoyed. A quarter-century ago, in 1998, Ozone Coffee was born in the coastal surf town of Fitzroy, New Plymouth. Inspired by the coffee plantations they explored in San Salvador, founders Karen and Jamie Hodson began a remarkable journey.Ozone Coffee Roasters (OCR) was founded in New Plymouth, New Zealand (NZ) in 1998 and we’ve been roasting and supplying specialty coffee since. In 2012, we expanded to the United Kingdom (UK), opening a roastery and eatery in Shoreditch, London.
Is ozone safe to drink?
Drinking ozonated water is perfectly safe. The process has been approved by the US FDA since 2001, and it’s fast becoming the preferred method for purifying, food-processing, and bottling across a range of industries to kill bacteria and viruses, and without leaving chemical residues as chlorine does. Is ozone natural or man-made?
Stratospheric ozone is formed naturally through the interaction of solar ultraviolet (UV) radiation with molecular oxygen (O2). The ozone layer, approximately 6 through 30 miles above the Earth’s surface, reduces the amount of harmful UV radiation reaching the Earth’s surface. Ozone can damage the tissues of the respiratory tract, causing inflammation and irritation, and result in symptoms such as coughing, chest tightness and worsening of asthma symptoms. In addition, ozone causes substantial damage to crops, forests and native plants.Ozone’s high oxidative potential enables it to break down complex molecules like pesticides, pharmaceuticals, and organic contaminants. It also effectively destroys bacteria, viruses, fungi, and protozoa by attacking their cell walls and disrupting their metabolic processes.Ozone can be good or bad, depending on where it is found. Called stratospheric ozone, good ozone occurs naturally in the upper atmosphere, where it forms a protective layer that shields us from the sun’s harmful ultraviolet rays.When inhaled, ozone can damage the lungs. Relatively low amounts can cause chest pain, coughing, shortness of breath and throat irritation. Ozone may also worsen chronic respiratory diseases such as asthma and compromise the ability of the body to fight respiratory infections.
Is ozone good or bad?
