Is Starbucks the only company that makes Vertuo pods?
Only Nespresso is allowed to make Vertuo pods. The Starbucks ones are made by Nespresso as well. Third parties won’t be able to make them until 2030 something when the patents expire. The only workaround is if companies really want to now, they’ll have to do what Starbucks did and license their brand to Nespresso. Nespresso Vertuo pods are wider and feature more of a dome-like shape than the original capsules. They can also differ in height depending on the type of coffee they create. I love that I can get Nespresso Vertuo pods via Costco! The Starbucks assortment of pods are so delicious and convenient! This is a luxury item for me so a bit of a splurge price wise but worth it. Even if a K-Fee pod could somehow fit, the Vertuo wouldn’t brew it.
