Did LEGO discontinue LEGO Friends?
In September 2021, Matthew Ashton, The Lego Group’s vice president of design announced that Lego Friends alongside City, Creator, Classic, Technic, Speed Champions, Monkie Kid, Ninjago, Collectible Minifigures and DOTS themes will continue until at least 2023. With regards to the five main characters the LEGO Friends team assures us that they will each still have the same personalities and interests as before. Their design changes are just to diversify their appearance.It’s encouraging that children want to see diverse friendships represented in the content they watch and the toys that they play with. These changes will help children understand difference and give them the confidence to make relationships with others who are not the same as them.
