The company was founded in 2001 by Jeremy Torz and Steven Macatonia. Union was founded in 2001 by Steven Macatonia and Jeremy Torz, two scientists who went to buzzing San Francisco in the 90s and discovered an artisan coffee scene that didn’t yet exist in the UK. Deciding to bring the west coast back to London, they quit their day jobs and started roasting in their parents’ garden shed.

All Union coffee is speciality grade & always 100% Arabica – the ideal gift for coffee lovers. Our coffee is ethically sourced direct from smallholder farmers. We pay a fair, sustainable price making coffee better for everyone. Arabica beans are known for their smoother, sweeter flavour with notes of chocolate, nuts, and fruit. They typically contain less caffeine and are considered higher quality, which is why most specialty coffee blends – especially in UK cafés and restaurants – use 100% Arabica.
