Can jet be a girl name?
Jet is a given name which may be either masculine or feminine. It is relatively common in Dutch-speaking countries, as a nickname for certain feminine given names (for example, Henriëtte or Mariëtte), and is pronounced [jɛt] in that context. Jet aircraft are called ‘jets’ because they are powered by jet engines that generate thrust by expelling a high- speed stream of exhaust gases. This ‘jet’ of gas pushes the aircraft forward, allowing it to fly at high speeds and altitudes.
