Can coffee beans expire?
After the peak of freshness, most roasted coffee beans won’t expire in the sense that they’re unsafe to brew and drink, unless they have been exposed to moisture and develop mold. However, over time, roasted coffee beans will decline in quality. They will noticeably lose aroma, and sometimes, they lighten in color. The rule goes like this: green coffee lasts about 15 months before it goes stale. roasted coffee lasts about 15 days before it goes stale. Ground coffee lasts about 15 minutes before it goes stale.
