Menu costs refer to the costs incurred by a firm when it changes its prices. The most common way to price menu items is the cost-plus method, whereby the restaurant determines the actual cost of producing each item, factoring in ingredients and overhead, and then adds a predetermined profit margin figure.With menu-specific pricing, the price of a menu item changes based on the menu it was ordered from. For example, a menu item that costs $5 when it’s ordered from the Lunch menu and $7 when it’s ordered from the Dinner menu.
