Where is the original bean around the world?
The first Bean Around The World location was in Ambleside, West Vancouver. I think the original owner was named Peter. In the 1980’s he roasted and ground his coffee beans on site and the shop had the most wonderful smell. We spent many times talking coffee with him. Herbert Hyman founded The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf® as a coffee service for offices. Three years later, he opened the very first store in Southern California to bring the flavors of the world to his neighborhood. The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf® grew to 10 cafés in Southern California. It was previously owned and operated by International Coffee & Tea, LLC based in Los Angeles, California, before it was acquired in 2019 by Jollibee Group, a multinational company based in the Philippines, for $350 million. As of 2024, the chain has 1,232 stores spread across 24 countries.
Where is Bean around the world from?
We’ve been around for a while, and that’s a good thing West Coast coffee culture is thriving, but it’s also relatively new – since we opened our flagship store in West Vancouver during B. C. Gillies Coffee Co. America’s Original Coffee Roaster Since 1840.
Is Bean around the world a Canadian company?
It all started with a dream in West Vancouver back in 1990, and ever since, we’ve been proudly Canadian! Each of our cafés is independently owned and operated by passionate locals who bring their own unique touch to every cup. Why Canada’s Cup? Because Balzac’s is proudly 100% Canadian – owned, operated, and roasted. Every cup shows up with the same depth and determination as our nation. Bold, uncompromising, and, some might say, defiantly delicious.
