Do people live in the Friends apartment building?
The building’s retail space at street level features the Mediterranean restaurant Little Owl. Fans who want to live where the Friends characters lived may have to wait, however. Per StreetEasy, none of the one- to four-bedroom units are available to rent at the moment. While Central Perk exists solely on a Los Angeles soundstage, the space that would house the corner-side café below the building where Monica, Rachel, Chandler, and Joey lived is very much real. Little Owl opened in May 2006, just two years after one of the most popular television series of all time aired its finale.
Who turned down the role of Rachel on Friends?
BFF, Courteney Cox. Hard-core fans of the 1994-2004 sitcom know that Cox was originally offered the part of Rachel, but she turned it down. Of course, she wound up playing Rachel’s pal and roommate, Monica, instead. Originally, Courteney Cox — then the biggest star among the up-and-coming cohort, having appeared on Seinfeld — was slated to play Rachel, until she last-minute decided to also read for Monica “nailed it. We were just blow away,” Erin Kanner, Friends casting director, admitted to Huffington Post in 2015.
