How much espresso does the 9Barista make? The machine produces a shot which weighs between 35 and 40g. The 9Barista produces a shot of espresso which should weigh between 35-40g. If it’s lower than this, there may be an issue which needs to be resolved.The best ones have good body and a nice crema on top, while lesser ones lean sour or bitter, like the ones I’ve experienced with a Mokapot. With this metric in mind, 9Barista makes an excellent espresso, especially for a device without the same temperature and pressure controls of a luxe electric espresso machine.

What is the yield of 9Barista?
We designed 9Barista to make a double espresso – with a 20g dose of coffee, and either a 40g or 60g shot weight. Once your grinder is set up correctly, 9Barista will produce a 20% extraction yield (the ideal target). That means 4 to 5 shots of espresso puts you right near the upper safe limit, around 240 to 500 mg total. If your shots are on the stronger side (closer to 100 mg each), hitting that limit only takes about four. If they’re milder, five shots might be okay.For most adults, 4 to 5 espresso shots a day is the limit. Go over that, and you risk jitters, anxiety, or worse.For most healthy adults, consuming up to 3–4 shots of espresso per day (189–252 milligrams of caffeine) falls within generally safe limits.For espresso, we recommend starting with a coffee-to-water ratio of 1:2. For a double shot, this means using 18 grams of coffee to yield about 36 grams of espresso. Unlike other brew methods, espresso is highly concentrated, achieved by pushing pressurized hot water through a very fine grind.
