What is the difference between the Breville Barista Express and Touch?
The sage/breville barista express has a “thermoblock” boiler. This is a physically larger boiler which takes some more time to get hot (about 30 seconds); however it retains the heat well and so it’s quicker to reheat if you make another coffee within the hour. The sage/breville barista touch has a “thermojet” boiler. A common problem for the sage barista touch is an internal blockage. This means water won’t pass through the group head, the steam wand or the hot water outlet. The machine makes noises as if the water is trying to pass but either little or no water will.To start, and most easily, the Sage/Breville Barista Express has a manual steam wand. It is either on or off and has a single hole for the steam to come out of, the touch has four holes. The simple operation of the Barista Express is perfect for someone who wants to get more hands on with steaming their milk.
Is the Breville Barista Touch any good?
The Caveats. There is not much not to like about the Breville Barista Touch, but it’s important to point out that it is definitely a splurge. At almost $1,000, it’s not the most affordable espresso maker. However, it’s the most versatile and efficient fully automatic espresso machine I’ve ever used. Breville’s Barista Touch Impress may be the priciest coffee maker on this list, but it is truly a high-end machine.In all of our tests, we found the Breville Bambino Plus to be the best overall espresso machine for its espresso quality, automatic milk steaming, small footprint, and lower cost. If you’re looking for a machine with a built-in grinder and more automation, the Breville Barista Express Impress is another great option.
