Is DeLonghi dedica EC685 good?
In a nutshell, it’s probably the best low cost home espresso machine for this kind of price. Yeah there are better machines, but I honestly don’t think there’s anything better than the Dedica EC685 at this price, for the reasons I’m about to explain. EC680 came the Dedica EC685. The main difference here is a “Dedica” branded drip tray, and a little drip tray underneath the main drip tray. Also, the steam wand panarello was updated to include two settings for either ‘hot milk’ or cappuccino.They’re the same machine as far as the espresso part. The ec885 has a better steam wand and looks like it comes with a decent pitcher, but if you aren’t using milk that’s not beneficial. The one on Amazon looks like it comes with a decent tamper, so you won’t need to buy your own.The most important difference between the Dedica EC680 and the newer Dedica EC685 is the improved steam wand. The original EC680 shipped with a traditional ‘Panarello’ steam wand, a design that makes it very easy to make fluffy cappuccinos, but doesn’t offer enough control for any other kind of milk.
