Monster Beverage Corp has seen a permanent injunction against Vital Pharmaceuticals (VPX) brand Bang Energy from marketing its drinks as containing “Super Creatine”. Following that preview, we had several individuals comment and ask, does that mean creatine will no longer be in Bang moving forward? We reached out to Jack Owoc, the man behind the successful Bang Energy drink, to find out, and the answer is no, creatine is going to continue to be a part of the product.

This case was brought by Monster Energy’s European subsidiary. On July 31, 2023, Monster Beverage acquired Vital Pharmaceuticals for $362 million. Including the Bang Energy brand and a beverage facility in Phoenix, Arizona, the deal came months after the company filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection.The reasons behind Monster suing Bang center primarily on allegations of false advertising claims by Bang Energy. These claims reportedly misled consumers about the energy products’ ingredients and effects, which violated accepted industry advertising standards.Who Owns Bang Energy Now? In July of 2023, Monster Beverage Corporation purchased the assets of Bang Energy for $362 million, which marked the official end of the Jack Owoc/VPX era.The wrongful death and product liability lawsuit claims that Monster ignored studies linking unhealthy side effects with high caffeine content found in Monster energy drinks and resisted providing safety labels on its products.Monster has already stopped producing all of Vital Pharmaceuticals’ other products including Natural Bang and Bang MIXX Hard Seltzer. The energy drink had seen decreased sales over the past few years as retailers became aware of the false advertising litigation, resulting in the product being pulled from shelves.
Why did bangs get banned?
It accused Bang and Owoc of false advertising for allegedly touting their energy drink with Super Creatine as a miracle drink that could help cure neurological disorders like Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s disease. In June 2023, Monster reached an agreement to acquire Vital Pharmaceuticals, the owner of Bang Energy.However, in September 2022, Bang suffered a significant setback when Monster filed a successful false advertising lawsuit against it. The lawsuit argued that Bang Energy deceived consumers about its ingredients and the health benefits of its drinks.
